At Basic Naturals Skincare, our brand story began with a bike ride and a moment of curiosity that changed everything. During an afternoon biking adventure abroad, Yaniv, our in-house formulater/engineer and resident athletic over-achiever, decided to pick a prickly cactus fruit to rehydrate—a decision that ended with hands full of tiny prickers. What seemed like a minor mishap turned into months of suffering as contact dermatitis and eczema developed. Traditional remedies were either too harsh (steroid creams have long term side-effects) or failed, leading us on a journey of relentless research, trial and error, and ultimately, innovation.

Over a year later, we successfully created a highly concentrated, natural calendula-based salve, unlike anything else on the market. This salve, Skin Repair, not only healed Yaniv’s hands, it also became a household staple for treating diaper rash, bug bites, scars, and more.

That pivotal experience sparked a deeper exploration of what was in the skincare products we used every day. Products we had trusted to be natural, we found to contain potentially harmful ingredients. With a commitment to pure, plant-based ingredients, we began formulating our own products. What started as small-batch creations for our family soon grew into a thriving business—from farmers markets to store shelves, and now to homes across the country.
